Itinerary

1

Yangshuo - Baisha - Moon Hill - Yangshuo

Begin the Yangshuo cycling tour with a transfer from the hotel to the bicycle pick-up point, located in the town of Yangshuo. Meet up with the cyclist guide.

Departure at 9:00am by bike from Yangshuo towards the village of Baisha, located around 10km away (bordering the Yulong River). Cross the famous 400 year old Yulong Bridge and ride along the river bordered by orchards where orange, mandarin, chestnut, and pomelo trees grow.

All the while, admire the stunning rural scenery passing along the Guangxi countryside.

From here, either head back across the river and return to Yangshuo, or continue further south towards Moon Hill. This imposing hill pierced by a moon-shaped hole offers spectacular views of the surrounding area. The ascent will take between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on personal pace; entrance ticket fee is not included.

Optionally: Attend the evening show “Impression Sanjie Liu.” Set against the backdrop of the fabulous karst countryside, hundreds of local fishermen-cum-performers act out scenes of rural life, showcasing the traditional values of the region’s minority groups.

Overnight in Yangshuo

(Ride up to 40 km (60km if you decide to extend you ride to the Moon hill)).

Difficulty: Easy (flat all the way, partially around the Jade Dragon River area but principally along country paths)

2

Yangshuo - Mushan - Liugong - Yongcun - Yangshuo

Similar to Day 1, a transfer will be provided to the cycle starting point. At around 9:00am the excursion will head out towards Mushan, located 3km west of Yangshuo. 500 years old and known for its layout which follows the “8 Trigrams of Taoism”, Mushan is of particular interest in the study of fengshui. From Mushan, continue along the general path of the Li River to the fishing village of Liugong. Around 20km from Yangshuo, this village has been around for 800 years and is known for its ancient houses and tri-colored pools. Return to Yangshuo passing through Yongcun, followed by a hotel transfer.

Note: Optional visit to Moon Hill if it was missed on day one.

Overnight in Yangshuo

(Ride up to 40 km)

Difficulty: Easy (flat all the way, partially around the Li River part on a tarmac road, but principally along country paths)

3

Yangshuo - Jiaobalin - Guban - Daping - Xingping - Yangshuo

Begin the final day of the Yangshuo cycle tour at 9 AM, heading to Jiaobalin village. In the initial part of the trip, pass along flat rice paddies and bamboo-bordered waterways before cutting into an area with far steeper slopes made up of rice terraces, fields of tea trees, and orchards of orange trees.

A break is planned at 20km near a waterfall, which will also be the time to enjoy a well-deserved picnic while soaking in the picturesque views of the surroundings.

As the route progresses, the journey will be punctuated by small villages such as Guban and Daping. A large descent will ultimately lead to Xingping, a village founded over 500 years ago. At one time Xingping was the most important settlement on the Li River, famous for its traditional Ming and Qing Dynasty houses and for its market (held every day) where almost anything can be found. A charming little fishing village is located under 2km away.

Return to Yangshuo by boat along the Li River (alternatively, the return trip can be done by car, depending on personal preference.) Transfer back to the hotel.

Note: it is possible to spend the night in a guesthouse in Xingping instead of returning to Yangshuo. Consult us for more information.

(Ride up to 40 km)

Difficulty: Moderate (aimed at experienced cyclists, covering 40km in a very hilly area, in part on a tarmac road, but principally along country paths)
