Thailand Arrival – Kanchanaburi

Transfer/vehicle time: 3h00

Welcome to Thailand! Upon arrival at Bangkok’s international airport, Suvarnabhumi, meet with the guide and driver and be assisted with the transfer to Kanchanaburi.

(Please note: Depending on the time of arrival, a unique country market along railway tracks may be visited on the way to Kanchanaburi.)

The journey starts with the drive to Kanchanaburi. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant that is situated near the famous bridge on River Kwai that was built by prisoners of war during World War II.

After, continue to Hintok River Camp for check-in.

Dinner and overnight in Kanchanaburi.

Kanchanaburi

Transfer/vehicle time: 2h00

Wake up to the sound of nature surrounding the tented camp. After breakfast, embark on a canoeing and biking excursion. Enjoy the beauty and scenery of River Kwai by canoeing down the river. Under the supervision of an experienced instructor, paddle for two hours along the river. 

After a refreshment break, take a 10-km easy bike ride through the spectacular Kanchanaburi rainforest. Enroute, make stops to see temples and local villagers going about their daily tasks.

Lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch, depart for Erawan Waterfall, a beautiful 7-tiered waterfall. Located in Erawan National Park. Take a hike up to see the picturesque falls. It is best to bring good walking shoes. Also do remember to bring a swimming suit if swimming in the fall’s natural pools is desired. 

Dinner and overnight in Kanchanaburi.

Kanchanaburi – Sukhothai

Transfer/vehicle time: 8h00

After breakfast, leave the beautiful nature of Kanchanaburi behind and head to historic Sukhothai that translates to ‘dawn of happiness’. The city was founded in the 13th century and became the kingdom’s first capital.

Stop for lunch at a local restaurant along the way.

Check-in at the hotel and get ready for dinner at the hotel followed by an evening of relaxation.

Ayutthaya – Sukhothai

Biking: easy, 2h00

Breakfast at the hotel. Today, visit Sukhothai Historical Park which was once a walled city surrounded by a moat. The park contains almost 200 chedi ruins preserved in remarkable condition. By bicycle, ride around the main sites of Wat Mahathat, Wat Si Chum, Wat Sri Sawai, Wat Sra Sri, Wat Trapang Ngoen and Ramkamhaeng Museum.

Finish around noon and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Sukhothai – Sri Satchanalai – Chiang Mai

Transfer/vehicle time: 4h30

After breakfast drive north to Sri Satchanalai Historical Park on the bank of the Yom River north of Sukhothai. The ancient town, formerly called Muang Chaliang was named Sri Satchanalai during the reign of Phra Ruang and 134 ruined monuments have been discovered within the park.

Before arriving in Sri Satchanalai, stop at a local farm to have a fruit sample tasting. Then visit the main sites of the historical park including several temples as well as the Celadon Kiln Site Study and Conservation Center at Ban Ko Noi.

Lunch at a local restaurant.

Continue the drive to the northern capital, then take some time this evening for a free and easy dinner.

Chiang Mai – Mae Kampong

Transfer/vehicle time: 1h00

Today, after breakfast, be picked up for an adventurous day to trek to Wat Phalad our first stop will be at Wat Suan Dok which is famous for its whitewashed Lanna stupas and its International Buddhist Studies Center adjacent to the temple. Meet with one of Wat Suan Dok’s monks for a chat. Enjoy this unique opportunity to talk with a Thai Buddhist monk and learn about his life, the country’s spiritual beliefs and anything else of interest. This exchange provides a remarkable forum for connecting with Thailand’s spiritual culture.

Lunch at a local restaurant.

Hope into a minivan and be transferred to Mae Kampong Village in Mae On District. Drive through the picturesque countryside of Chiang Mai. The village is nestled 1,300 metres above sea level and has a cool climate all year long.

Stop at Mae Kampong Village and be met by some of the villagers. Take a stroll through the community forest, passing tea and coffee fields to a refreshing waterfall. Back in the village, see the process of fermented tea leaves and various products which are hand-made in the village.

In the early evening, help the hosts with preparing today’s dinner. Then after dinner, relax with a traditional Thai massage.

Chiang Mai – Chiang Dao – Hmong Hilltribe Lodge

Transfer/vehicle time: 3h00

This morning, take an early hot breakfast that would be served by the hosts while the morning mist sets in the valley with the cool mountain wind. After breakfast, say goodbye to the friendly host family.

Then, drive to the Chiang Dao to visit Palaung, Akha and Lisu ethnic tribe villages. Living separately from lowland Thais, the tribal mountain people retain a different culture and way of life, unique to every ethnic group.

Learn all about how the Hmong ethnic group who have over the years turn from depending on the cultivation of opium poppy to marketing their exquisite needlework for income. See their colourful ethnic wear made from cotton or hemp and learn about their animists beliefs and their way of life.

The Hmong are diligent and independent people, fond of wearing their silver ornaments during ceremonies and much devoted to the sky spirit they believe has created their own ancient way of life. After returning to the lodge for dinner.

Chiang Mai – Elephant Rescue Park and cooking class

Transfer/vehicle time: 3h00

This morning depart from the hotel for a day at the Elephant Rescue Park. Elephant Rescue Park aims to provide a sanctuary and rescue center for the Asian pachyderms. In the scenic Mae Taeng Valley, the park is one of the rare places in Thailand where elephants no longer work for humans. Throughout the day, learn about the problems elephants face in Southeast Asia, as well as the changes advocated by the park regarding their care, treatment and training. Join the park’s volunteers to feed and bathe the elephants, an unforgettable day and a unique experience for any visitors to Thailand.

This late afternoon, embark on a gastronomy journey at a cooking school. After enjoying the vibrant colours and flavours of a local market, personally select the ingredients for the dishes and learn the secrets of Thailand’s revered cuisine. By actively preparing a variety of Thai dishes, boost personal cooking skills and knowledge. At the end of the class, be delighted by tucking into the very own prepared meal. A gourmet’s feast!

Chiang Mai – Doi Inthanon

Transfer/vehicle time: 2h00. Trekking time/difficulty: 2h00/easy.

Depart the hotel at 06:00 in the morning and head west of the old city. Arrive at Ton Payom Market in time to buy dishes and join the locals during the daily alms giving ceremony to the monks. From here, transfer to Doi Inthanon National Park for the day.

Doi Inthanon National Park is well known for its beautiful wild flowers, great bird-watching opportunities and its majestic waterfalls. This adventurous day starts with a short transfer by van to San Patong market. Here, have the chance to experience the colours, sounds and smells of a typical Asian fresh food market, while the guide buys some extra ingredients for lunch. Then continue to Doi Inthanon National Park. Upon entering the park, immediately notice the change: houses and roads make place for trees and streams, while mountains take over from the vast fields in the Mae Ping Valley. The short hike starts at a Karen Hilltribe Village. Most of the villagers work at the coffee plantation project. Sample the quality of the coffee while chatting with the local Karen hosts.

The first part of the trek is an easy walk from the village, through the forest and over the fields. After about an hour, arrive at the first waterfall. Cross the stream and climb up to the next waterfall, where a picnic lunch will be served. Here, have enough time to swim, sunbathe and relax.

After the break, continue hiking along the stream. After walking through the forest and passing yet another beautiful waterfall, finish today’s trek where the driver awaits for a transfer back.

On the way back to Chiang Mai, make a stop at Watchirathan Waterfall, one of the most spectacular in Northern Thailand. Then continue back to the hotel.

This evening, dine at an excellent restaurant on the Mae Ping Riverside for a farewell dinner. Enjoy the culinary delights of Northern Thailand which is a feast for the palate.

Chiang Mai - Phuket

Transfer/vehicle time: 30 min

Spend the morning free at leisure before getting transferred to Chiang Mai International Airport for the flight to Phuket.

Upon arrival at Phuket airport be met and transferred to the hotel by minivan.

Check-in, freshen up and relax by the pool or alternatively learn how to make Loy Krathongs to release at sunset. ‘Loy’ means ‘float’ ‘krathong’ is a special Thai floating sculpture particular to the holiday. The traditional krathong is made from a cross-section of a banana tree trunk, which is then elaborately decorated with folded banana leaves and flowers in an intricate towering designs.

Phuket – Phang Nga Bay – Koh Yao Yai

Boat Tour: 09h00 – 3h00 Swimming and Kayaking: 2 - 3 hours

This morning, after breakfast at the hotel have the bags packed and ready to be picked up for a day tour around Phang Nga Bay and onto Koh Yao Yai Village for the night.

Today, take several stops while kayaking some of the most picturesque sections of the bay. Follow the kayaking guide through limestone caves, discover the famed James Bond Island while paddling and take some pictures to capture the memories of this remarkable place. After, explore hidden lagoons, pristine mangrove forest and dramatic karst formations by kayaking through the beautiful landscape. Arrive on a secluded beach to enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by the sweeping scenery of this exclusive and seldom visited beach before being transferred by long tail boat to the resort for the night.

Arrive late afternoon on Koh Yao Yai, check-in and freshen up before an evening seafood BBQ dinner at the Resort.

Koh Yao Yai

Boat Tour: 09h00 –12h00 Snorkelling: 1.5 hrs Island walk: 2 hours

Breakfast  at the hotel before boarding a long-tail boat to Hong Marine National Park Island. Visit what is known to the local people as ‘A Room with a View’ or ‘Lagoon’ where its full of true natural beauty. Zip through a group of small and medium sized islands where a variety of exciting underwater activities awaits. Relax and snorkel through schools of eye-catching fish, witness the inner beauty of both deep and shallow sea corals and swim along the unspoiled white sandy beach surrounding the islands.

Return to Koh Yao Yai for lunch and prepare for the afternoon village tour activity. Experience local customs and traditions of the friendly islanders of Koh Yao Yai and peaceful island life. Walk through a rubber plantation, the islander’s main source of income alongside rice and learn how they tap for rubber. Continue through the rice paddy fields and take-in the self-sufficient way of life of the locals while enjoying the flora and fauna.

Head back to the resort for a couple of hour’s relaxation by the pool before heading out independently for dinner. Ask the guide to recommend a local restaurant on the island or enjoy one of the restaurants located in the resort.

Phuket Departure

Transfer/vehicle time: 1h00

After breakfast get picked up for a boat ride to Ao Por Pier then take a transfer in the morning to the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project before the flight home. Or, simply choose to extend the stay in Thailand and Southeast Asia. Breakfast and lunch included.
