There’s much, much more to see in Cambodia’s top sanctuaries. Then witness a great spectacle of vultures feeding on a whole cow before heading off to a spectacular Angkorian jungle-temple. Itinerary
Siem Reap – Boeng Peae Wildlife Sanctuary
Leaving early from Siem Reap, head northwards to the Bengal Florican Grasslands Conservation Area, the seasonally flooded grasslands of Kampong Thom and Siem Reap Provinces. This area harbors the largest number of Bengal Florican in Cambodia (and likely the world). Here you will visit several sites that comprise of important non-breeding grounds for many large water birds, such as the Greater Adjutant, Painted Stork, and Sarus Crane.
From here, continue your journey to Betreed, one of the most exciting and fun adventure retreats in Cambodia: one that is hidden in the forests to the north of the Boeng Peae Wildlife Sanctuary. Here, guests can experience raw nature that is home to endangered and threatened species of Cambodian wildlife such as banteng (wild cow), pileated gibbons, silver langurs, barking deer, sambar deer and many species of birdlife.

Boeng Peae Wildlife Sanctuary
Today there is a choice of adventurous options you can discuss with the local wildlife guide to get the most of any specific interest you may have. Explore the varied habitats from dry to evergreen forest, take a challenging hike to the top of the mountain, explore Angkorian era “cave-temples” and the quarries where the ancient Khmers carved out their stone for temples, or traverse a saddle of the mountain on 300m ziplines with astonishing panoramic views.

Boeng Peae Wildlife Sanctuary – Kulen Prumtep - Wildlife Sanctuary
This morning, head out along the many trails on the hunt for birds, butterflies and wildlife, before traveling on to Prey Veng ecolodge on the banks of a 12th Century reservoir deep in the Kulen Prumtep Wildlife sanctuary. Spend the late afternoon exploring the nearby lost temple ruins, cycling or trekking around the reservoir, or just relaxing with sundowners on the platform over the reservoir while watching the evening wildlife.

Kulen Prumtep Wildlife Sanctuary
Today there is a choice of options available which can be discussed with the guide. Explore the Baray trails spotting critically endangered birds and wildlife, hike or cycle 12km to mountain temples, or take a boat out with local fisherman to learn their skills. There is also the chance to get involved with community conservation work, species monitoring or forest patrols whilst learning about traditional rubber tapping in the community forest, or learn about growing of our wildlife friendly Ibis Rice.

Kulen Prumtep Wildlife Sanctuary – Boeng Toal
Rising early head out for a wildlife trek and breakfast before travelling to an incredible vulture site at Boeng Toal, a remote site in the Northern Plains. For many, this is a highlight and the chance to see 3 critically endangered vulture species, jackals, dhole and more. The night is spent in safari style tents.

Boeng Toal – Siem Reap
Owing to decline in wildlife and other threats, Cambodia’s vultures are reliant on supplementary feeding. A cow will be provided to the vultures and from dawn you will be able to watch the spectacle of up to eighty White-rumped and Red-headed Vultures, and sometimes also Slender-billed Vultures feeding on the carcass. After the vultures have finished feeding, return to Siem Reap, stopping at Beng Mealea, a spectacular ruined Angkorian jungle-temple.
