Arrive in Sandakan

Sandakan Jetty to Kinabatangan Wetlands Resort by boat (Join in Basis): 2hrs Cruise times: PM – 16:00 (Join in Basis) Cruise duration will depend on wildlife spotting: approx. 2 hours

Arrival in Sandakan.  Welcome to Sabah !

Kota Kinabalu – Sandakan: Air Asia AK6496 ETD 12.55/ ETA 13.40

Today, be met and greeted by special wellness guides Lily and Shirley and leave to Sandakan Jetty. Lily is a professional certified yoga teacher with over 1000 hours of various yoga practices and pilates under her belt. Shirley is a certified aromatherapist and alternative healing practitioner.

Depart Sandakan Jetty at 14.30. This two-hour boat journey passes by local villages and lush rainforest and provides excellent wildlife-spotting opportunities at some of Borneo’s quirky inhabitants.

Lunch served on board.

Arrive at Kinabatangan Wetlands Resort.

Late in the afternoon, at 17:00 hop on a riverboat for a cruise up the Kinabatangan River in search for wildlife - most notably, the proboscis monkeys which is endemic to Borneo. Other fauna is likely to be spotted in the Lower Kinabatangan Reserve including elephants, hornbills, gibbons, and many birds. 

Return to the lodge for dinner before mid-evening take a stroll along the boardwalk on a lookout for nocturnal animals and interesting insects.

Please Note: All boat cruises within the Kinabatangan are on a join-in basis. Private boats can be requested at a supplement, however, they are subject to availability.

At 20:30 after dinner, relax with a 35 minutes of sound healing session.

Sound Healing is one of the oldest and most natural forms of healing known to man. It uses the power of sound to restore one’s mind, body and spirit back to a state of balance. The harmonic vibrations from the instruments have a deep penetrating effect on the receiver, promoting healing and well-being.

Kinabatangan

Cruise times: AM – 06:30, PM – 16:00. EVE – 20:00 (Join in Basis) Cruise duration will depend on wildlife spotting: approx. 2 hours

Rise early in the morning at 06:30 along with the birds and other animals of the jungle for an unforgettable river cruise to Kelenanap Oxbow Lake, a crescent shaped lake that formed when the river’s meander became so wide that it cut itself off. The stillness of the lake and relative protection provides a haven for animals and plants making for an ecosystem that’s completely distinct from that of the active river.

At 08:30, continue with a visit to a local fishing village, Kampung Abai. Take this chance to interact with the local Orang Sungei, the indigenous river people who have long inhabited the area and observe daily activities in the fishing village.

At 10:00, take part in a yoga session in the wilderness of a jungle trail. (Note: This is subject to weather conditions).

Enjoy a healthy lunch at 11:00.

After lunch, take part in a reforestation project by planting a tree. The project aims to rebuild habitats and degradation which are leading threats to the health of a species.

At 16:00, hop on board a river cruise.

After a well-deserved and hearty dinner, head out again at 20:30 for an unforgettable night river safari to see some of the jungle’s nocturnal inhabitants.

End the day at 21:30 on an indoor night meditation or sound healing session.

Kinabatangan – Kundasang

Kinabatangan Wetlands Resort to Sandakan Jetty by boat (Join in Basis): 1.5hrs Sandakan to Sabah Tea (207km): 3.5 hours

Wake early at 06:00 and practice morning yoga in the jungle, the best way to start the day! Energise the body on a positive and enlightening experience.

At 08:00, check-out from the hotel and return to Sandakan by private boat. Arrive at 09:30.

Visit Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre in time for the morning feeding session at 10:00. Then, proceed to the Sun Bear Conservation Centre nearby. This center aims to increase awareness of this endearing, but little-known bear species – named after the crescent shaped patch of fur on their chests that resembles the rising sun.

Lunch at Sepilok Forest Edge.

Continue to Sabah Tea Resort. With a sprawling tea plantation surrounded by pristine rainforests with cool mountain air, indulge in the beautiful surroundings. Get a sense of what it is like to stay in a rustic Sabah Tea Longhouses to experience the traditional Malaysian Borneo rainforest lifestyle.

After reaching the lodge relax with a class of aroma yoga ending with a session of Tibetan singing bowls. As human beings, we are comprised mainly of liquid, these sound vibrations deeply penetrate our bodies, moving through our tissues and organs, impact our nervous systems, resonates directly into our cellular memory and releasing emotional blockages and creating profound sense of peace and relaxation.

Kundasang – Tip of Borneo

At 07:00 this morning, go on a yoga session with Mount Kinabalu in the background. Mount Kinabalu is an iconic and spiritual symbol representing inhabitants of the Land below the Wind.

It is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site with its rich and diverse flora and fauna, an ecological wonderland. Breath its pristine unpolluted air and relax.

After breakfast at 09:00, leave to Poring Hot Spring  and take a stroll along the 60 metre-high canopy walkway which offers a spectacular bird’s eye view of the Borneo rainforest.

Lunch at a local restaurant.

Arrive to the hotel and check-in.

In the evening leave to the tip of Borneo, the northernmost tip, located in the Kudat Peninsula where the South China Sea meets the Sulu Seas. Take a short walk to the very tip of the peninsula and spend some time soaking up the magnificent views. 

At sunset have fun with a photo shoot while doing Yoga Assanas with the South China Sea in the background.

Return to the hotel for dinner.

Tip of Borneo

North Borneo Biostation Resort is located with its tropical rainforest, unexplored coastline and deserted beaches appeared to be the right place after being in the jungle. In this place not only tourists but also scientists come from all over the world for the research in biology, ecology, hydrophysics and other fields of Earth and Ocean Science.

At 07:00 this morning, practise yoga in the morning.

Spend the rest of the day free at leisure. Choose to walk in the jungle, swim, explore underwater, or cycle, kayak or windsurf.

Lunch at the resort.

At 18:30, learn the techniques of Pranayama, an ancient practise of sound healing.

Dinner at the resort.

Tip of Borneo - Kota Kinabalu

North Borneo Station - Rungus: 3 `1/2h Rungus – Kota Kinabalu: 2h

At 07:00 wake up and go for a morning yoga session.

Have breakfast and then at 09:30 visit a Rungus Village. Traditionally, the Rungus people live in longhouses built on stilts, but the shift to modern-day living has meant that the sight of such longhouses are getting rarer. In Kampang Bavanggazo near Tinangol in the Kudat district there is a chance to experience this fascinating communal lifestyle in a purpose-built longhouse constructed entirely of traditional materials but with added modern comforts.

Lunch at the village.

Arrive to Kota Kinabalu at 14:30 and transfer to the hotel.

Farewell Yoga class at Yoga Lily studio followed by dinner.

Overnight in Kota Kinabalu – Hotel Jesselton.

Breakfast at the hotel.

Transfer to Kota Kinabalu airport for an onward flight home or to the next destination.
