Let the colonial flair and pagoda fill city of Yangon start you off. And speaking of pagodas, visit one of the best at Shwedagon. It certainly glows during the sunset. And there’s more. Sule’s inner city position might startle a few. And lots of smaller ones certainly add gloss to the former capital. And don’t forget the colonial buildings.
Next is Mandalay. Romantic in sound and name, alluring in nature. This is where some of the country’s extraordinary feats are accomplished. The world’s largest book is over at Kuthodaw Pagoda. One of the few images of Buddha’s likeness is at Maha Myat Muni Paya and not far from Mandalay in Sagaing lies the world’s oldest teak bridge.
The next stop is also a record breaking destination. You’ll feel quite overwhelmed by the temples and pagodas that decorate the lands. If you haven’t guess it, this is Bagan, and you are a part of history. Over 2000 of these marvelous structures are here today for you to wow at. And to think that Bagan in the past once had over 13000. Pretty amazing. A horse carriage ride through the area should make things charming. You’ll also take a walk to Myinkaba village, where you have the chance to observe the production of lacquer ware, one of Myanmar’s most distinctive traditional crafts.
Inle Lake is your human/nature/fascination experience. Ever seen people row boats with one leg? Or Buddhist monks training cats to jump through hoops? This a much more await you at the stupa filled, nature galore, floating village area called Inle Lake.
An experience in Myanmar would certainly tickle your curiosity.
