Lao Handicraft Festival (LHA) will take place on November 1-7, 2012. The festival will promote and develop excellent marketing opportunities for Lao people producing handmade products. It is a great spotlight for Lao arts and crafts and an excellent opportunity for travelers to learn about this first hand with the chance to also purchase goods with over 200 producers selling goods from traditional Lao silk to pottery.
Visitors attending the festival can enjoy fashion shows exhibiting the latest Lao designs, explore recent jewelry and basketry products, watch craft demonstrations, workshops and join seminars. Members of Fair Trade Laos and villagers from NGO projects will join the festival with food products made in Laos also featuring.
LHA was established on April 1, 1998. In the beginning it consisted of a group of 20 handicraft enthusiasts until February 2004, when it was changed to be the Lao Handicraft Association. It now consists of 6 main handicraft sectors including textiles, jewelry, non-timber forest products, recycled and wood products, pottery and cultural items.
Everybody is welcome to attend with the option to also purchase handmade products.
