The hustle and bustle of Saigon. Some love it. Others revel in it. Also called Ho Chi Minh City (we’ll stick with Saigon from now on, just for simplicity’s sake), the urban sprawl is certainly one of Asia’s most lively and dynamic. And also varied. You’ve got modernity living with the traditional, colonial charm with the oriental and of course attractions standing side by side with restaurants and bars. This is exactly what this tour is about – for you to discover the leisure side of Saigon.
The first day starts in absolute relaxation. Check in your accommodation and do as you please. The hotel may make it hard for you to step out, so we’ll make your first day hotel day. Step into the spa and soothe your body and mind. It may work wonders after that long flight over here. Or combat the tropical heat with a refreshing dip in the swimming pool. Or just enjoy the soft comfy bed in your hotel room. Either way, spend this day in complete and utter relaxation.
Today, you’ll explore Saigon as if you are a permanent resident here. You’ll step into a local family’s house and see what Southern Vietnamese cuisine is all about. But first, you need ingredients, right? Bask in the local flavor (in a literal and figurative sense) and purchase fresh produce and items needed for your food. Chat with the locals and discover the secrets to some of the country’s favorite meals. Pho soup perhaps? Then, head back home, cook the food and eat it. It certainly tastes better knowing that you had a lot to do with the preparation.
You’ll now ride the streets of the city like a local. Zip through the city on the back of a Vespa motorbike to discover Saigon’s sites. This is where you can truly experience the blending of east and west, as well as today and yesterday, all in one go. For more into the city’s attractions, check out our Saigon day trip. And the fun doesn’t end there. Conclude the day with dinner at a fancy and trendy place.
