It is even more so in the south. How is that possible? Well, it just is. And a prime example of the laid back scenic nature of the country is at the Boloven Plateau. Get ready for lush jungles, rivers, hilltribes and refreshingly cool waterfalls. This is also the birthplace to some of the best Laotian coffee.

Waterfalls are abundant here! You definitely have to see Tad Lo Falls, a beautiful formation of three separate rapids. The lush vegetation that surrounds the waterfall makes is more than enough to catch anybody’s attention. You just have to see it for yourself. Warning: you will be impressed.

Continue around the area for more waterfalls. From the bridge you will first see Tad Hang. Tad Suong, is located a further ten kilometers upriver. And there’s more. In the vicinity are Tad Yuang and Tad Fane. If you love waterfalls, you are certainly in the right place!

Here is also where you can exchange ideas and stories with hilltribes. The predominant ethnic group in the Bolaven Plateau are the Laven, while the minority consists of the Alak, Katu, Taoy, and Suay groups. These guys have lived a traditional way of life, one that hasn’t really changed much for hundreds of years. And where there are ethnic groups there are bound to be colorful and traditional markets.

And what about that coffee? Nothing beats the feeling of a good aromatic caffeinated drink in the morning, what’s even better is having it here in the Boloven Plateau! Tour the countless coffee plantations and stick around for the sample!

Discover the area with our exclusive pass to the Boloven Plateau. This day trip ensures that you visit all points of interest, including the cascading waterfalls of Tad Lo and Tad Fane, a local coffee plantation to learn about this famous Laos treat and of course hilltribe villages.
