Start with visiting the local temples at sunset. Visiting temples between the hours of 18:30-20:00 is a very different experience to a visit during the daytime. You will feel as though you almost have temples to yourselves and the views and feeling of the temples are both beautiful and unique as the sun sets and the temples are all lit up. The temples take on an entirely different style in the dark, the temples shine glitter like diamonds. You will visit a few different temples ranging from the modest to the shinning glittery spectacles that look out of this world when lit up at night.
After witnessing these stunning structures at night head to the three king’s monument to learn a bit about Thai history in Chiang Mai from when Northern Thailand was a separate country known as the Lanna Kingdom.
After your short history lesson continue on the Tuk Tuk and ride to the market known as Warorot. Busy from morning until late at night, the bustling market is a hub of local life. Browse stalls overflowing with fresh food, flowers, and more and enjoy the lively atmosphere.
Next cross the river to via the foot bridge, locally named Kua Khaek (Indian Bridge), to reach the beautiful Sai Ping Restaurant where you will stop for dinner. The restaurant (translated tothe flow of the Ping, Ping being the name of the river running through the center of Chiang Mai) is located right on the banks of the river and enjoy a beautiful location. The food is mostly traditional northern Thai food served in a stunning way and all comes from local ingredients. Along with the live music this will be a dinner to remember.
Once dinner is finished top off a great evening with a short walk to the Sala Lanna hotel’s roof top bar for a cocktail. Once you have finished enjoying the views and the drinks transfer back to your hotel by private air-conditioned transfer or continue the evening at your own pace with the advice of how to get home from your local friendly guide.
