An Old World Charm with Tuk Tuk
- Full Day
You will be picked up at 08:00. Escape from the busy city streets with a journey to Chachoengsao- an alternative day trip from Bangkok. This excursion gives a real taste of true Thai lifestyles without venturing far from the big capital city.
Set off by train, watching the high rises of Bangkok give way to fields and small farming communities. The shift from the city’s centre, to its sprawling suburbs and then countryside is slow but dramatic.
Disembark and continue to nearby Wat Sothon Wararam Worawihan. Venture inside and see its unique temple hall built from Italian marble. Then hop aboard a traditional Tuk-tuk, Thailand’s trademark transportation. Bounce along the roads, enjoying the views and the less hectic streets of rural Thailand. Arrive at Talad Baan Mai, a market established more than one hundred years ago. The market has a fascinating history as it its nearby pier was, at the time, the only place to catch boats to Bangkok and thus became a meeting point for locals. Stroll through the stalls selling everything from food to dry goods and traditional toys, as they have done for the last century. This is a great opportunity for photos and to interact with the friendly local vendors.
Stop at one of the food stalls for lunch and taste authentic, freshly-prepared Thai cuisine. Sitting alongside locals and dining on the delicious dishes is a memorable experience.
After lunch, continue to Talad Klong Suan. This market is a series of wooden buildings set alongside a canal. Wander through the maze of old shop houses everything from fresh food and household utensils. Experience true Thai market culture while browsing the stalls.
