Unveiling The Artists of Luang Prabang
- Half Day
Discover Luang Prabang’s thriving art scene. Start with a visit to Kop Noi Gallery where works by local artists P. Noy and Manivone are on display. These progressive young artists are two of the leading figures in Laos’ modern art movement.
Continue the Luang Prabang art experience to Le Pavillon de Jade, stepping back in time to view antiques. The owner is a Frenchman who was born and raised in Laos. Over the years he has amassed an impressive array of Lao and Chinese antiques that he displays in a colonial building. Learn the stories behind each piece and gain a better understanding of Laos’ history.
Next is a visit to Asiama gallery. Asiama takes you on a visual journey around Laos, without having to leave Luang Prabang. The gallery blends old and new with works of contemporary photography from all over Laos standing alongside antiques and textiles from Laos’ ethnic groups.
Venture down to the banks of the Mekong River for a break at Big Tree Café. Enjoy a cup of tea or a fresh juice while admiring the captivating images that adorn the walls. The pictures are from award-winning international photographer Adri Berger and artfully capture the essence of Laos’ people and places.
The final visit of the day is at Naga Creations, a workshop specializing in contemporary hill tribe designs. They craft unique pieces which elegantly blend gemstones, wood, silk and tribal fabrics, using traditional Luang Prabang silversmith techniques
