The more fun and adventurous trip begins when the 4WD turns into a bit bumpier route towards Muang Khong. Lesser known by tourists, Muang Khong is a small village as well as a sub-district of Chiang Dao, lied on the banks of the Mae Tang River, hidden behind the Chiang Dao Mountain. A bit of a forgotten place, this village is a genuine gem of a natural beauty unspoiled and relatively isolated for years. Enjoy local lunch served at a local restaurant or a local homestay with a nice view of rice farm.
After lunch, proceed next via a shortcut route out of the mountain onward Pai through the highland viewpoint of Huay Nam Dang National Park. Enjoy such a breathtaking panoramic view of the highlands down below, and during the cool season, the mist covering all mountains and areas can make the difference in the beauty of nature.
Arrive in Pai in the evening. (L)
