The southern section of Vietnam is perhaps the country’s most family friendly area. Here guests will find some of the nation’s best beaches, prime mountain scenery, the watery wonderland of the Mekong Delta and dynamic Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s largest conurbation. Like the rest of Vietnam, it is a rip-roaring ride, which is never anything less than exhilarating.
The journey commences in Ho Chi Minh City. While perhaps not as immediately visually enticing as the capital Hanoi, the southern hub has its own charm, while nearby attractions such as the Cu Chi Tunnels – underground passages built by Vietnamese resistance fighters – are a window onto this remarkable nation.
From Ho Chi Minh City it is a short hop to the Mekong Delta, a drowned paradise of waterways and sleepy communities. Faster-paced fun can be enjoyed in Dalat in the Central Highlands, which is fast becoming the country’s adventure sports capital. The journey concludes, meanwhile, on the beach at Nha Trang.
